Alessandro Gualtieri: The Maverick Nose Behind Nasomatto and Orto Parisi

Alessandro Gualtieri, often referred to as "The Nose," is an Italian perfumer celebrated for his avant-garde and provocative approach to fragrance creation. Born in Italy, Gualtieri's early olfactory experiences were shaped by the raw scents of his grandfather's butcher shop, instilling in him a fascination with visceral aromas. He pursued formal studies in perfumery in Germany and further honed his craft under the mentorship of an Italian expatriate.

Among his notable creations is "Black Afgano," a fragrance that has achieved cult status for its deep, smoky character.Other significant works include "Duro," "Narcotic V.," and "Blamage." In 2014, Gualtieri introduced a new line, Orto Parisi, inspired by his grandfather's garden and exploring the concept that the body is a garden, with scents reflecting the soul.
