Cristian Calabrò: Crafting Emotions into Fragrance

Cristian Calabrò is an Italian independent perfumer renowned for his innovative approach to fragrance creation. His journey into perfumery began in 2003 at Cerizza SpA, where he worked closely with master perfumer Maurizio Cerizza.This foundational experience ignited his passion for raw materials and honed his technical skills in chromatographic and spectrophotometric techniques.

Calabrò's portfolio boasts collaborations with several niche fragrance houses, including The House of Oud (THoO), Anima Mundi, Bois 1920, and Roberto Ugolini. His creations are characterized by their emotional depth and innovative structures, often drawing inspiration from various art forms such as painting, music, cinema, and literature.

One of his notable works is Musk Complexity for New Notes, where he employed a layering technique using six different musk tones to create a vibrant and evolving scent profile. Another example is Keep Glazed, a collaboration with Andrea Casotti, inspired by pastry chef Ksenia Penkina. This fragrance offers a sweet, summery experience with notes of frozen lemon, mango, chantilly cream, and ginger crumble.

Calabrò's Ankh Sun Amon, co-created with Andrea Casotti for Anima Mundi, pays homage to ancient Egyptian royalty.It features a rich blend of lily, myrrh, orange of Tangiers, amber, and exotic woods, evoking the sacred rituals of the Nile.

In L'Explicite for THoO, Calabrò challenges olfactory conventions by combining lemon, ylang-ylang, banana, and peanut notes, resulting in a fragrance that is both extravagant and irresistible.
